Carbon Black Character-second series
Different carbon black production process, the chemical properties of the carbon black surface also makes a difference. Here we will introduce carbon black dispersion, light stability and food contact
characters. In our last article, we have introduced carbon black
blackness, tinting strength and hue characters.
Dispersion
The finer the pigment black, the contact point between
carbon black aggregates is larger, the stronger cohesion between them result. When the pigment black incorporates material, which means carbon black uniform distribution begins, the fineness has a much larger influence on dispersion to separate carbon black particle and ultimately achieve the highest blackness and coloring. Compared with high structure carbon black, low structure carbon blacks are more likely to reach high concentrations, but in thedispersion process requiring greater dispersancy. Dispersion degree of carbon black is influenced by the structure extent. Due to the high structure carbon black having good dispensability, so its color intensity is naturally strong. When using powdered carbon black, there will be the problem of dust dispersion, thus, we can use master batch or slurry. Prefabricated carbon price is higher than pure black pigment. If taking into account the cleaning process, efficiency and technical advantages of low investment and high, black preparation has its value.
Light stability
Light makes plastic aging, especially sun's ultraviolet rays will accelerate the aging of the plastic. In use of an organic ultraviolet light absorber and an antioxidant can extend the life. However, the
carbon black pigment is still considered the best UV stabilizers. Carbon black pigment as UV absorbers is mainly used to extend the service life of plastic products outdoors. Concentration of 0.5% of the small particle size of carbon black (20nm) and a relatively coarse particle size of 2% carbon black (95nm). Almost has the same light protection.
Food contact
All references to the Food Sanitation Law coloring pigment commodities, including pigments must meet the purity standards. First, the standard specifies its content of heavy metals in general pigment, its solubility in the components of 0.1n hydrochloric acid (gastric acidity and the same, and a predetermined content of aromatic ammonia. Then, in particular, has developed standards for pure
carbon black, and this standard is different from country to country. So before you enter carbon lack field, please member to refer your country standard.
