Blackness
Carbon black blackness refers to black presentation strength. Carbon black as a coloring, blackness mainly based light absorption for a particular concentration of carbon. The finer the carbon black is, the higher light absorption of carbon black strength is. Carbon black blackness is influenced by internal light absorption and the particle surface geometry mechanism which reduces blackness. For fine carbon black powder, only increasing concentration can improve the blackness. For coarse carbon black powder, the degree of light scattering improves by increasing the number of black but blackness reduced accordingly.
 
Tinting strength
Tinting strength can be understood as the ability to counteract the effect of white pigment whitening. Tinting strength of carbon black increases as the particle diameter of primary particles reducing and structure reducing.
 
Hue
Light scattering degree of carbon black particles decreases as the particle size decreases which affects credit effect, also affect tone. When the light pass through a black color, the shortwave Blu-ray scattering effect is more intense than the long-wavelength red light. The finer the carbon black, this effect is more significant. Due to the small depth of the red light component scattering loss, therefore the degree to enter the colored layer larger. Overall intense blue light scattering, in the opposite direction, i.e., rearward scattering strongly, and from the colored layer thus reflected. When observing the reflection process, a blue hue by fine black coloring, the higher will give people the feeling of blackness. If black thick, brown tones presents accordingly. When the observation using a transmission process, the relationship between the same color tone colored layer (not completely transparent film) on the contrary, the smaller the particle size decreases, the stronger the scattering of blue light through the depth of the colored layer, i.e., blue light passes through the coloring layer to the other side of the composition is less, to wear out from the other side.
